While you might want to practice yoga, sometimes going to a class can be intimidating or impossible. Please join me for private yoga sessions in person or via Skype, right from your own living room!
I offer this class in order to support your body's participation in your healing and evolution, and to create within you a supportive flow of energy. The practice of yoga is beneficial on its own, and it's also a great partner to any kind of personal growth work you may be doing. It can help to unblock and free the emotion and energies that are stored or stagnate in your body. It can open you to a flow of healing energy, and bring you presence, peace and joy. Over time, you'll experience greater physical flexibility, tone and strength. And yes, it's fun!
This is a mindfulness-based Hatha Yoga class. I started teaching because as a former professional dancer focused on precision, I found I was left with many questions during public yoga classes about the specifics of certain poses, which often kept my mind busy trying to figure things out - rather than being able to drop into presence, breath and flow. Working privately, we can gently fine-tune your body's participation throughout the class, and there's time for questions and one-on-one connection. Together we'll focus on the breath, and also on your body's alignment in a way that keeps you present and participating with your whole self in each pose.
This class is for able-bodied men and women, and it's especially useful for people who feel out of touch with their bodies or want to inhabit their bodies more fully. You don't have to have yoga experience. We'll work at your pace to make sure you're getting the most out of each session. Please contact me for more information or to schedule your first session.
Material Requirements for Skype Sessions:
An Internet connection that is fast enough to handle audio and video well
Microphone for audio, and camera for video
Space to set up your mat so I can see you on the screen (you'll be able to see me too)
My experience, knowledge and teaching style came primarily from 14 years of focused contemporary dance training, which included mindfulness-based dance technique and various kinds of bodywork (given and received). I do not consider myself a yoga master, though I've taken years of yoga classes and have had a personal daily practice since 2007. I deeply honor the practice, and I invite the spirits and energies of the long-ago yoga masters who created the practice to guide me as I work with you.
