It’s easy to look outside yourself for enlightenment or awakening — to read the books, listen to the podcasts, watch the videos — with the notion that you should be “getting somewhere,” achieving something, reaching a higher ground or some kind of supernatural state.
Sometimes there’s so much reaching, so much information — so many promises of what’s to come, and so little that actually lands — that none of it ever really sinks in. You understand the words. You might even enjoy them, and believe them. But it can so easily stay in the mind, where you don’t actually feel the change happening inside you. It’s exhausting. It can feel precarious — like if you miss a meditation, you’ve fallen behind. And it leaves so much room for self-judgment. All that trying can restrict your body, your breath. It can tighten your heart and constrict your emotional life. Even your thinking gets tight. But you don’t have to do any of that. You can simply be still. Let the reaching fall away. You already are what you’ve been seeking. This is what everything outside yourself is pointing toward... but you won’t find it outside of you. You won't find it in the Doing. It’s ok to settle in and let yourself Be. Breathe, and Be. The spaciousness you seek is within you. It is you. And you can experience it the moment you let go of trying. From here, Truth reveals itself. Here, your body feels alive and connected. Here, your breath flows naturally. Space opens for your Beingness. In this resting, what’s been veiled becomes obvious... simply because you stopped pushing. Here, everything — literally everything — is ok. There’s no need to go outside yourself to find it. You are it. I am with you. I love you. Aowyn
