Discipline: A combination of devotion and commitment to your relationship with yourself and with Spirit |
Sadhana (Sanskrit) is spiritual practice. Usually daily. Usually first thing in the morning.
My morning practice is my favorite part of every day. It's so many things - time to take care of my body, mind and spirit. It's centering, grounding, connecting, empowering, aligning. It's uplifting! It sets the tone for the rest of the day and, over time, all of life. It's not always easy - I might want to sleep in, or meet a friend for coffee, or maybe my mind insists on doing acrobatics during meditation - but I do it anyway. I've had a daily sadhana for the last 20 years. My practice constantly evolves to support my own evolution and changes - for example, I recently practiced Kundalini Yoga every morning for two years... and then one day I woke up and Kundalini was no longer the right thing for me. It wasn't that I didn't feel like doing it that day - I would have practiced anyway. But no, the practice had clearly come to completion, and that very day a new practice began to take shape. I'm no longer hard on myself for "switching channels." I trust my intuition to tell me what I need, to support my divine purpose and my lived experience. Right now my morning sadhana is a 2.5 hour practice (I'm an early bird) that includes breathwork, meditation, exercise, a cold plunge, and reading something spiritually oriented with a cup of something warm and delicious. It's a lot, but it's working for me! Sadhana can be 20 minutes of meditation... prayer or chanting... yoga... a mindful, silent walk... the key is that it's spiritual in nature, and that it happens every day. It's commitment. Devotion. A love song, sung by you to You: I am here. I care. It's good to find a practice that feels right for you. It's your practice! Each session will include meditation, guided mindfulness, personal energy medicine, mantra, mudra, breathwork, and simple interpersonal practices designed for heart opening and connection. This is an invitation to awaken your own practice of devotion, and to cultivate your own daily practice, inspired by what we do when we're together. No experience necessary. Come with an open mind. Come with willingness and a desire to tune in to yourself and to spirit, with others who are inspired to do the same. Come with a desire to be with other women in a space of lovingness, respect and appreciation. Come with the intention to begin or expand your own beloved daily sadhana. |
